It is my pleasure to invite you to the next SOE Congress which will take place in Vienna
between the 9th and 12th of June 2007 and which will mark the 50th anniversary of the
founding of the European Society of Ophthalmology.
Europe has changed a great deal since the early days of SOE and our Society is keeping up
with the pace of change at every level , including many exciting improvements you will see
when you attend the Jubilee SOE Congress in June.

agreed to join us to make our Jubilee Congress a true Joint friv juegos SOE / AAO / ÖOG meeting.
The SOE Scientific Programme Committee also invited all the major European Sub -
Specialty Societies and many of their American counterparts to take active part in
the planning and in the presentation of the scientific programme. Their response was

symposia and 20 instruction courses, which will provide a state of the art programme
presented by the leaders in each field.
These include our distinguished Key Note Speakers, Drs Stephen Ryan, Peng Khaw,
Richard Collin and Howard Fine as well as over 250 invited lecturers from around the globe .
There will be several debates on controversial topics and discussions specifically aimed at
the younger ophthalmologist, all of which will add interest and, at times, fun to the packed
